The Senator representing Kano South, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, on Monday tied the knot with Aisha Isah, a serving military officer in the Nigerian Air Force.
The quiet wedding ceremony took place in the morning at the palace of the Emir of Rano, with only a small number of witnesses present.
Sumaila’s media aide, Muttaqa Babire, confirmed the development in a Facebook post, sharing a picture of the senator standing beside his bride dressed in a full military uniform.
Another aide, Ahmad Tijjani Salisu Kiru, also posted: “JUST IN: Alhamdulillah, today 17-11-2025, Senator S.A. Kawu Sumaila OFR PhD tied the knot at Rano. May Allah bless the union with righteous children.”
There was no public notice ahead of the senator’s marriage, and photos from the palace ceremony revealed a modest gathering, with only a handful of attendees.
Senator Sumaila, who chairs the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), recently defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), generating political discussions within Kano’s political circles.
The marriage has since sparked social media reactions, with many congratulating the senator and his new bride.
Meanwhile, Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has threatened to expose the secrets of her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, which includes alleged murder case, fraud, land-grabbing and everything he had covered up with money.
Naijaonpoint reports that Regina, in a post via Instagram on Monday, said she is only respecting Nwoko because he is the father of her children.
The movie star insisted that Senator Ned Nwoko introduced her to ecstasy drugs (Molly), which she said helped their sex life.
