WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Governor of Katsina, Dikko Radda, attended plenary of the House of Representatives on Thursday as three reps from the state defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress. The governor was elected on the platform of the APC in 2023 and is seeking reelection in 2027. The APC chairman in the stat, Muhammad Ali, and some political bigwigs were also at plenary to witness the defection. The notices of defection were read by the speaker of the house, Tajudeen Abbas during plenary. Those who defected were Abdullahi Balarabe, representing the Bakori/Danja federal constituency; Abubakar Albaba Aliyu, representing the Batasari/Safana/Dan-Musa federal constituency, and Yusuf Majigiri, representing the Mashi/Dutsi federal constituency. All three lawmakers attributed their defections to the internal crisis in the opposition party. While Balarabe said he sought a more stable platform due to the “protracted crisis” in the PDP, Aliyu said he left the PDP due to its “lack of cohesiveness”. Majigiri cited a “high level of internal crisis without cure” in the PDP.
