The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), in Katsina, has trained the 2025 batch ‘A’ stream ll corps members, on fire safety and prevention.The News Agency of Nigeria ( (NAN) reports that the training kick started on Tuesday at the state’s NYSC Orientation camp for the corps members undergoing a three week orientation course.
The lecture was delivered by the Superintendent of Fire, Federal fire Service, Katsina, Alhaji Zahradeen Bashir.
He emphasised that the lecture would equip the corps members and camp officials with essential knowledge and skills for preventing and managing fire incidents.
He butressed the critical role of fire safety awareness in saving lives and properties, saying that most fire incidents are as a result of negligence.
According to him, electrical faults and improper handling of flammable materials are also factors responsible for fire incidence in some cases.
The fire service official informed the corps members that the peculiar sensitisation and knowledge, fire tragedies would be avoided.
Bashir enjoined the corps members to share the knowledge gained with their host communities to foster a culture of fire safety and preparedness.
He also spoke on the emergency evacuation techniques and the critical steps to take during fire outbreaks.
Participants were trained on how to quench fire using appropriate tools like fire extinguishers, fire blankets and other emergency fire suppression methods. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
