Kayla Nicole has issued a heartfelt public apology after a series of her old tweets containing offensive language resurfaced online.
In a lengthy statement posted to her Instagram Story, Nicole said she was ashamed of the words she once used.
“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago,” she wrote. “Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I’m ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way. They were ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong.”
Nicole, who dated Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on and off for five years, called the past comments inexcusable, adding that the person she is today would never use those words or hold those views.
“Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how cruel and harmful online hate can be, and I would never want to add to that world of pain in any form,” she continued. Nicole added that she has since deleted the tweets and her entire X (formerly Twitter) account.
“I take full responsibility for what I posted, and I’m truly sorry to anyone I may have hurt,” she added. “My heart, values and perspective are completely rooted in empathy, love and respect for others. I can’t change the past, but I will continue showing through my actions who I’ve become and what I stand for today.”
Nicole’s apology comes after ...s, written in the early 2010s and containing racist and homophobic language, began circulating earlier this month.
In a few of the old tweets, she appeared to reposted a tweet that described Asian people as “rude as fck,” refer to a woman using an insulting remark about her Mexican heritage, and make a derogatory comment about an “Indian girl” she claimed could be heard praying through the walls, adding that she planned to tell her “Buddha isn’t real.”
Here are nine and a half minutes of now deleted tweets of Kayla Nicole being a racist, misogynist, xenophobic and homophobic piece of garbage.
