WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Kebbi State Government has declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, politically irrelevant following the defection of its three serving senators to the All Progressives Congress, APC. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed, said the mass defection of Senators Adamu Aliero, Garba Maidoki, and Yahaya Abdullahi marks the final collapse of the opposition in the state, which he attributed to Governor Nasir Idris’s performance and leadership style since taking office in 2023. “The party has been on life support for months. The exit of Senators Adamu Aliero, Garba Maidoki, and Yahaya Abdullahi is the final nail in the coffin. These were the party’s strongest pillars. With their defection, the PDP has nothing left to stand on in Kebbi State,” the statement read in part. DAILY POST gathered that the recent wave of defections has triggered internal panic among remaining PDP stakeholders in Kebbi, some of whom now publicly admit that the party’s structure has collapsed beyond repair.
