Hussaini Aliyu, chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has released the names of the 25 schoolgirls abducted by bandits from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
The students were abducted on Monday morning when armed bandits stormed the school, killing the vice principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku and injuring a security guard.
Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, said additional police tactical units, alongside military troops and vigilante groups, have been deployed to the area. He disclosed that the combined team is combing suspected escape routes and surrounding forests in a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify day-and-night operations and “leave no stone unturned” until all abducted students are rescued.
President Bola Tinubu has also requested continuous updates from Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, as well as from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).
