THE Kebbi State Police Command has killed one suspected bandit and arrested three others during coordinated security operations in Maiyama and Shanga Local Government Areas of the state.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the raids were in response to two separate attacks launched by armed bandits on residents of Botoro Gadi and Kwari communities.

Abubakar explained that in the first incident, eight armed men invaded the home of one Alhaji Sani in Botoro Gadi, Mungadi area of Maiyama LGA, and abducted two people identified as Muhafi Sani and Shamsiya Aliyu.

A swift response team led by the Divisional Police Officer, alongside local vigilantes, pursued the attackers and engaged them in a gun battle, during which one suspect was neutralised.

The police recovered a dane gun and an empty cartridge shell from the scene.

In a separate incident, another group of bandits attacked Kwari village in Shanga LGA, abducting two residents — Suleiman and Yunwa Suleiman.

Abubakar said the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga, supported by army personnel and vigilantes, quickly mobilised and confronted the criminals.

The kidnappers reportedly abandoned their victims and fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.

During a related operation, police operatives arrested one Musa Muhammad in Takware village, Shanga LGA, for unlawful possession of ammunition.

Items recovered from him included three rounds of live ammunition and 20 empty shells of 7.62×39mm calibre.

All rescued victims have since received medical attention and been reunited with their families.

CSP Abubakar reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and ensuring the continued safety of residents across Kebbi State.
