THE Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it has rescued five abducted persons and dismantled a criminal gang behind recent kidnappings in Kebbi State.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development in a statement today noting that arms and ammunition were also recovered during the operations.

According to him, armed kidnappers attacked Sangara Village in Shanga Local Government Area on July 27, 2025, abducting three people identified as Muhammad Namata, Gide Namata, and Hamidu Namani.

A joint operation involving police officers, other security agencies, and local vigilantes tracked the gang to Shanga Hills, where a fierce gun battle ensued.

The suspects fled into the forest with gunshot wounds, while the hostages were safely rescued.

In a separate incident on August 15, 2025, police patrol teams in Danko/Wasagu LGA encountered armed bandits around Dankade Village in Ribah District.

During the exchange of gunfire, two victims, Tukur Bello and Isyaka Abubakar—who had been kidnapped on August 9 while grazing cattle in Zamfara’s Gairi Forest—were rescued unhurt.

Adejobi reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intensifying efforts against banditry and kidnapping, stressing that coordinated operations will continue until criminal networks across the region are dismantled.
