Kehlani is opening up about where things stand in their custody battle with ex-partner Javaughn Young White, telling The Breakfast Club that the situation has taken a dramatic turn in recent months.

During the conversation with host Jess Hilarious, the singer shared an important update. “I have full custody,” Kehlani said, adding that they are not currently in contact with Young White.

The pair’s legal dispute made headlines last year after Young White released a statement urging TMZ to retract an article that reported he believed Kehlani was involved in a cult.

He said the piece misrepresented private information and that parts of his filing were submitted in error by former legal counsel. He also noted that a corrected filing would reflect the true nature of his concerns. Young White insisted he was not trying to create an unfair image of Kehlani while seeking sole custody of their daughter.

Kehlani called the allegations incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and untrue.

“I can bear anything attached to my name. It might hurt. I might throw a little bit of a fit about it, but I’m an adult. I can bear that,” Kehlani explained. “When you see your child’s name attached to these things, your child’s photo next to certain words and certain verbiage, that’s a bit of a heartbreaker.”

What made the ordeal feel treacherous, Kehlani said, was watching private family matters spill into public view. They expressed a similar frustration last year when shutting down damaging speculation about an inappropriate relationship with their daughter, which had stemmed from what Kehlani described as a lighthearted conversation with Young White about a past life reading.
