Kelechi Iheanacho joined Celtic last month, but the coach who brought him to the club has left….

Northern Irish coach Brendan Rodgers has left his position as Celtic coach, following a run of disappointing results at the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Rodgers took over at the helms of affairs at Celtic in 2023, and he was quite brilliant, leading the club to back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles.

However, since the start of the season, things have not gone according to plan at Celtic Park, as the club has struggled badly.

The Hoops were knocked out of the Champions League in the qualification stage after losing to Kairat Almaty, a club from the Kazakhstani league.

In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic have not performed well, by their own standards. They currently sit second, eights points behind surprise packages Hearts.

In fact, Rodgers’ team fell to a 3-1 defeat to Hearts just last weekend, and that seemed to be the final straw that broke the camel’s back.

Meanwhile, there has been tension brewing between the former Liverpool boss and Celtic’s coach.

It all came to a head on Monday evening, as confirmed reports emerged that Rogders had tendered his resignation letter at Celtic.

Following his exit, Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney will take charge for an interim period.

How Will Bredan Rodgers’ Exit Affect Kelechi Iheanacho?

However, after weeks of speculations, he got a move to Celtic. At the time, it seemed like the transfer was influenced by Brendan Rodgers, as they had previously worked together at Leicester City.

Iheanacho started like a house on fire, registering two goals and one assist in his first three games. However, he has tailed off, with just one goal in his last five games for the Hoops.

With Rodgers, Iheanacho had a coach that trusted him and gave him consistent minutes. But now, his situation is uncertain, as the next coach might not like him.

Nonetheless, the 29-year-old striker will be hoping that whoever his new coach will be, he will have belief in him and continue giving him minutes.
