WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Kendrick Lamar sat down for an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden and Nadeska Alexis ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl halftime show. During the interview, K. Dot addressed his rap beef with Drake but managed to keep things respectful. “My intent, from day one, was to always keep the nature of [Hip Hop] as a sport,” he explained. “I don’t care how muthaf–kas look at it as far as a collaborative effort. That’s cool, too, but I love when artists grit their teeth,” he said.
Kendrick says that he still watches battle raps, adding, “This has always been the core definition of who I am. I don’t think it was a thing for this year […] What I will say about this year, it was more from a space where I think a lot of people were putting rap to the back and you didn’t see that grit, you didn’t see that bite anymore.” Fans will be tuning in to the Halftime show to see whether Kendrick will be performing the Grammy Award-winning Drake diss track, “Not Like Us” after Drizzy sued UMG.
