The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed that the commercial airline owned by the Enugu State government, Enugu Air, will be officially launched on Monday.

The Minister disclosed that the event will take place at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport.

In a statement released by the airline, Enugu Air will commence its operations with a fleet of three Embraer jets from the E170 and E190 series.

It noted that the jets were carefully selected for their excellent performance, passenger comfort, and suitability for regional routes within Nigeria.

Naijaonpoint reports that commenting on the exciting development, the Commissioner for Transportation in Enugu State, Dr. Obi Ozor, highlighted the importance of Enugu Air in fulfilling Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of establishing Enugu State as a major aviation hub in Nigeria.

“With a strong foundation built on innovation and sustainability, Enugu Air is poised to transform regional air travel, boost state pride, and raise Enugu’s profile nationally and globally,” Ozor stated.

The new airline wants to improve regional air travel and raise the state’s standing in the nation’s aviation sector. In order to begin operations Enugu Air will concentrate on flights to Abuja and Lagos two important domestic hubs in Nigeria.

However, the airline intends to grow its network by adding flights to major cities throughout the nation, including Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano.
