WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Gunmen have killed two people and abducted 13 passengers in an attack on a Benue Links bus in Benue State. The incident took place near the Otukpo Burnt Bricks area in Otukpo Local Government Area. Benue Links Nigeria Limited confirmed the attack in a statement issued by the company’s Information Officer, Johnson Daniel. Efforts are currently underway to rescue the abducted passengers. The statement reads in part: “Benue Links Nigeria Limited regrets to announce the tragic attack on one of its buses, with registration number PP512, which was traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, April 3, 2025, near Otukpo Burnt Bricks when armed assailants ambushed the vehicle. “Sadly, the driver, Mr. Samuel Agege, and a front-seat passenger were fatally shot. While the attackers attempted to abduct the remaining passengers, three individuals managed to escape, and another passenger had already disembarked in Taraku town prior to the attack.” The company extended its condolences, stating: “Benue Links Nigeria Limited expresses its deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and stands in solidarity with those whose loved ones are still in captivity. We assure the public that we are in close communication with security agencies, who are making every effort to secure the safe release of the abducted passengers.” “We are grateful for the swift response of law enforcement and remain confident in their ongoing efforts to ensure the safe return of those taken.” Benue State Police spokesperson, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, confirmed the incident, adding that further details would be provided soon. “A kidnapping involving a Benue Links vehicle has been reported. More details will be made available shortly,” she said.
