Kim Kardashian is reflecting on her relationship with Pete Davidson and her ex-husband Kanye West’s one-sided beef.
During her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday, Kim revealed her thoughts about the whole drama.
“It has definitely affected that,” Kardashian told host Alex Cooper when asked about dating in the public eye. “There [have] been situations where I’ll get maybe close to someone, then it’s like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, wait, I don’t really want to deal with your ex. And I don’t want to deal [with] if he’s gonna say something.’ It has been a little frustrating, but then I get really, my person wouldn’t care about that, you know?”
Kardashian and Davidson dated for about nine months, attending major public events together, including the 2022 Met Gala. She understands the hesitation from potential partners, admitting, “But it is a big thing, and I get it. It’s not an easy thing. And I get that.”
When Cooper brought up “the Pete music video,” referencing Kanye West’s 2022 visual for his song Eazy, Kardashian grew emotional. The video famously included a claymation figure resembling Davidson being kidnapped and buried alive.
“That made me feel really sad. That really wasn’t fair for him,” Kardashian said. “And I felt so sad and sorry for him, and he was such a great man [who] was like, ‘I got this, don’t worry, it’s all good.’ Or at least acted that way.”
Kardashian said the situation made her more guarded in future relationships. “It just, it must suck to be put in that position. So it’s had me put up this guard where I don’t want to put anyone in that position,” she explained. “So it’s easier if I just, maybe stay away. But I can’t live my life like that either.”
