The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, when armed assailants invaded the area and fired gunshots sporadically for over an hour before abducting him to an unknown location. Ajayi, a former chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kabba-Bunu, is reportedly in fragile health due to his age, sparking widespread concern within the community about his well-being and safety. The incident has intensified fear among residents and renewed urgent calls for enhanced security in the area. This abduction comes in the wake of warnings from the Okun Development Association (ODA) about rising insecurity in Okunland. The ODA had recently condemned the kidnapping of a first-class traditional ruler in Okoloke, Yagba West LGA, and urged federal and state authorities, alongside security agencies, to take swift action. In a string of recent attacks in the lregion, gunmen also abducted a local council member earlier this year, followed by the kidnapping of three adults and a child from a nearby farm. Most recently, on Tuesday, armed men stormed Okoloke again, abducting four individuals, including Ezekiel Durojaiye, a respected retiree from Okunran village. These repeated incidents have left residents in a state of fear and uncertainty, underscoring the growing security crisis in Kogi State.
