THE Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the death of three officers who were shot and killed by unidentified gunmen at a checkpoint in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson William Aya, speaking to journalists in Lokoja today, said the attack happened in the early hours while the officers were on duty.
He explained that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has deployed a tactical squad to the area to track down the assailants.
“I can confirm that three of our men on duty were killed today in Egbe, a border town with Kwara State. The Commissioner has already sent a tactical team after the attackers, and we are confident the perpetrators will be apprehended,” Aya stated.
The killings come just days after the police announced the death of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Bala during an operation in Kogi.
