WATCH THE VIDEO HERE TWO officials from the Kogi State Government, Abdulsalami Hudu and Umar Oricha, today, appeared at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in response to corruption allegations. Their decision to visit the EFCC office may be linked to recent media reports indicating that the Federal High Court in Abuja had issued an arrest warrant for Hudu and Oricha due to claims of withdrawing over ₦46 billion in cash from Kogi State government bank accounts. This warrant was reportedly granted by Justice Emeka Nwite on Tuesday in an ex parte motion filed by the EFCC, identified as suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/909/2024. Unconfirmed sources suggest that the officials’ choice to report to the EFCC might also reflect the Kogi State government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, encouraging its officials to cooperate with the EFCC even without a formal warrant or invitation from the agency or its representatives. At the time of this report, Hudu, the former cashier at the Kogi State Government House, and Oricha, the Director General of Government House Administration, were seen at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
