Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters surprised the world by becoming the smash movie hit of the summer, breaking records both for the movie itself and its now iconic soundtrack. Released in June, it follows the K-pop girl group Huntrix, made up of Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo), who, unbeknownst to their fans, moonlight as demon hunters.

Huntrix’s singing voices, however, are provided by Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, and EJAE, the latter of whom also wrote several songs for the film’s soundtrack. Now, after topping the Billboard Global 200 with their single “Golden,” Huntrix made their live action debut alongside Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny in the season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live.

In the skit, Bad Bunny plays Thomas, a character who is hanging out with friends for the first time in half a decade but can’t stop thinking about KPop Demon Hunters. While his friends keep trying to change the subject, Thomas starts to imagine the live-action Huntrix singing “How It’s Done” and “Golden.”

Ultimately, his fixation on KPop Demon Hunters pays off when the demon boy bander Jinu (played by SNL’s Bowen Yang) shows up and possesses one of his friends by singing “Soda Pop.” Luckily for them, EJAE, Nuna, and Ami show up just in time to fight Jinu off, and the skit ends in a live performance of “Golden.”

This surprise performance comes just days before Huntrix were set to make their live-action debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, October 7. Following the announcement, rumors began to swirl around a potential live tour among fans, though no such plans have been revealed at this time.

If their Saturday Night Live and Tonight Show appearances are well-received, more live concerts are incredibly likely. Additionally, since Netflix is submitting “Golden” for Oscar consideration, Huntrix may take the stage during awards season.

With the film and soundtrack both continuing to break records, KPop Demon Hunters remains an entertainment juggernaut. Since it’s now the most-watched movie on Netflix, it’s no surprise that sequel discussions are already happening. Expanding on the KPop Demon Hunters universe through a live concert tour also seems inevitable, especially with the popularity of its sing-along theatrical event and these live-action television appearances.
