KPop Demon Hunters Scores Another Historic Record For Netflix Going Into Awards Season Run

KPop Demon Hunters has smashed yet another all-time record as awards season begins to heat up. The animated fantasy musical, which follows demon-hunting girl group Huntr/x facing off against the demonic boy band Saja Boys, is officially Netflix’s most-watched movie of all time, having garnered more than 325 million views in its first 91 days on the streaming platform.

The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack has also broken numerous records, including the original song “Golden” becoming the first song by a KPop girl group (real or fictional) to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Additionally, the movie’s soundtrack became the first to ever have four songs in the Top 10 simultaneously, namely Huntr/x’s “Golden” and “How It’s Done” alongside Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” and “Your Idol.”

The nominations for the 2026 Grammys have now been officially announced, contributing to the movie’s seemingly unstoppable run of broken records. The song “Golden” was nominated in four categories, specifically Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Remixed Recording, Best Song Written For Visual Media, and the coveted Song of the Year.

The original song from KPop Demon Hunters is competing in the latter category against popular tracks from real-life artists, including Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild,” Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT.,” Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “luther,” and Billie Eilish’s “WILDFLOWER.”

The song, which is also widely considered to be a frontrunner for the Best Original Song Oscar down the line, has broken the record for the most Grammy nominations that a KPop girl group has ever earned. In fact, this year marks the first time that any KPop girl group has ever been nominated for a Grammy.

The only KPop group to ever be nominated for a Grammy before 2025 was the boy band BTS, which received five nominations between 2021 and 2023.

This year, the KPop-inspired global group Katseye was also nominated for two awards (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Gabriela” and Best New Artist). While Katseye’s connection to the genre is debated, Huntr/x still maintains their record by earning two times more nominations.

Additionally, KPop Demon Hunters itself was nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media. This brings its complete number of nominations to five.

This Grammys record could be just the opening salvo of a long streak of success for Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters during the 2025-2026 awards season. The movie, which is eligible for both the Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature Oscars, still has a long road ahead of it, but this early record is a good sign for its momentum heading into the season.
