Former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has stated that the rift between former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso and his estranged former Deputy, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, might not get resolved anytime soon due to how deep the conflict is.

During an interactive session with newsmen at his Sharada office, Lamido stated that the conflict between the duo is driven by ego.

Lamido, who spoke on sundry issues of national importance, warned that the conflict would continue unless the politicians chose to put the interests of Kano State first.

He said, “Kwankwaso-Ganduje are twins brothers, their fight is about ego, and until and unless they choose to lower it for the interest of Kano, the frosty relationship will continue to defy third party intervention.”

He stressed that “they have been together, known each other too well, and for two long, work closely with each other, but have been fuelling the crisis with ego”.

Lamido maintained that “the solution to bury the hatchet lies with the two personalities, because the intricacies of the fight is so deeply personal that no external influence can resolve it”.

The PDP stalwart, while commenting on the proposed plan to create additional states in Nigeria, urged stakeholders to exercise caution.

The Talakawa philosopher said the urge to create new states in Nigeria shouldn’t be a priority given the myriad of problems bedevilling the polity.

“The components, you know, have lost faith in each other. We’re talking about North and South.

“We’re talking about Muslim-Muslim. We’re talking about Christians saying no. I mean, there are so many issues which so tear us apart that must be given attention,” Lamido stressed.

The PDP chieftain explained that “Above all, you know, there’s insecurity. You are not very sure you are safe or not wherever you are.”
