The Kwara State Police Command has intercepted a cache of illegal firearms and arrested four suspects during a routine stop-and-search operation along Sabongida Road.
The operation, which took place at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2025, was conducted by operatives from the Jebba Division.
According to police sources who spoke with security expert, Zagazola Makama, two suspects, Musa Mohammed and Musa Abdullahi, both residents of Saorami in Masegun Local Government Area of Niger State, were arrested while transporting weapons concealed in a bag.
Items recovered included six locally made AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, four cartridges, and one expended AK-47 round.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that the weapons were intended for delivery to two other individuals, Mohammad Umoru and Magin Isah of Shonga.
Police later apprehended both men, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four.
All four suspects have been handed over to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives on special assignment in Kwara State for further investigation and possible prosecution.
In a related development, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised two terrorists in an ambush at Shettimari general area of Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, conducted under Operation Desert Sanity V, was carried out by an ambush team in the early hours of Thursday.
The source said the troops intercepted the fighters around their crossing point at about 1:20 a.m.
He said the soldiers immediately engaged the terrorists, neutralising two of them while others fled in different directions.
