The series of activities for the coronation of former Governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, has begun with an interdenominational prayer in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Naijaonpoint reports that the event, held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state, on Monday, had the Otun Balogun, Oba Kolawole Adegbola, Ashipa Balogun, Oba Dauda Azeez, Ekaarun Olubadan, Oba Adebayo Akande and other important personalities in attendance.

Other dignitaries include the State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Joshua Akinyemiju, the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Daud Makanjuola, the Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Taliat Ayilara, representatives of FOMWAN, NASFAT, ANSARUDEEN, and NACOMYO, among others.

Delivering his speech, the President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Ajeniyi Ajewole, posited that the reign of Ladoja as the next Olubadan would bring peace and development to the ancient city.

Similarly, the Prelate of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, Sunday Makinde, in his sermon, admonished Ladoja to promote peaceful coexistence among the three religions in Ibadanland.

He also urged the Olubadan-In-Council, monarchs, Baales, and Mogajis in Ibadanland to join hands with him towards the progress and development of the ancient city.

In his remark, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Abdulganiyu Agbotomokekere, prayed for Ibadan to witness unprecedented peace and development during Ladoja’s reign as the 44th Olubadan.

Highlights of the event include rendition of Iyere Ifa by the traditionalists, reading of Psalms by the Christians and reading of the Quran by the Muslim faithful.

Ladoja would be presented with the staff of office and the instrument of office on Friday, September 26, 2025, a day after his 81st birthday.
