Lagos residents were abruptly awoken by the torrential rain, disrupting daily routines and inundating the streets. This made it challenging for workers in the commercial hub to reach their offices. Areas like Iyana-Oworo and Olopo Meji, which connect to the 3rd Mainland Bridge, were severely flooded, resulting in significant traffic congestion that stretched up to Alapere. Despite the rain, many individuals ventured out in an attempt to reach their workplaces but found themselves stranded at different bus stops across the city. Motorists traveling through Alapere to the Third Mainland Bridge experienced lengthy delays, with some spending hours on the road due to the flooding. The Iyana-Oworo-Olopomeji route towards the Third Mainland Bridge was also heavily affected by flooding, leading to extensive traffic jams reaching Alapere. Furthermore, a tree fell near the Airport U-turn in Oshodi due to the downpour. The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) promptly responded by clearing the fallen tree from the road to facilitate traffic flow and ensure public safety. Their swift action helped restore the flow of vehicles, preventing potential congestion and hazards in the area.
