RESIDENTS of the Ikorodu area of Lagos State have been thrown into panic after six bodies were discovered in separate incidents this week.
On Tuesday, a man was gruesomely killed in Bayeku, with his wrist and leg severed.
The following day, five corpses were found along the Oreta riverbank in Igbogbo.
Though details remain unclear, security sources suspect cult-related violence, which has been on the rise in Lagos. However, locals in Bayeku say the killing may be linked to land disputes rather than cultism.
Footage shared online showed some of the Oreta victims lying by the riverside with bloodstains around them.
Police officers were later seen at the scene, though the cause of death remains undetermined.
Reacting, the Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hammed Aroyewun, condemned the killings as “unacceptable” and vowed that the council, working with security agencies, would track down the perpetrators.
He assured residents that intensified patrols were underway to restore calm.
The incidents follow another bloody clash earlier in the week on Lagos Island, where three suspected cultists were killed during a festival.
As of press time, efforts to reach the Lagos Police Command spokesperson, were unsuccessful.
