WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE Federal Ministry of Works has directed the immediate reopening of the Independence Bridge in Lagos following hours of gridlock that left many commuters stranded on yesterday. The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, O.I. Kesha, announced in a statement that the Minister of Works, David Umahi, had instructed the reopening of the bridge to vehicular traffic. “This decision follows the earlier closure of the bridge for planned maintenance and rehabilitation,” Kesha stated. The ministry assured that efforts were underway to implement palliative measures on the reopened bridge to improve its condition for motorists. Apologizing for the inconvenience caused, the ministry appealed for public understanding and cooperation, adding that full repair works on the bridge would be scheduled for a later date.
