Former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Akande, has passed away.
Naijaonpoint learnt that Akande died on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at an undisclosed hospital.
According to the Nation, Akande’s death resulted from complications from an auto crash last week in the Ojo area of the state.
The deceased served as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for two terms, representing Ojo State Constituency I between 2015 and 2023.
He was first elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 and later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), on which platform he was re-elected in 2019.
Akande served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions and LASIEC while in the Assembly.
In other news, campaign posters of Justina Azuka, wife of slain Anambra lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1 constituency, Justice Azuka, have surfaced.
The widow is reportedly seeking support to replace her deceased husband.
Justice Azuka was kidnapped in Onitsha on the eve of Christmas of 2024 while returning home for the yuletide.
The body of the deceased was later found at the foot of the Second Niger Bridge in February, despite rumours of payment of a heavy ransom for his release.
Since the confirmation of his death, there has been clamour for the wife, Justina Azuka, to replace the late lawmaker, with many people appealing to the Labour Party to nominate her as a candidate.
Her poster as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has surfaced, leading to controversy about the refusal of the LP to give her their platform as compensation for her husband’s death.
