THE Lagos Fringe Festival 2025 is breaking new ground with a bold new addition to its programme: the Creative Tech Workshop Series, a space designed for artists, storytellers, and innovators eager to explore how technology can inspire and expand the creative process. The Lagos Fringe Festival 2025 runs from November 18 to 23 at Freedom Park, Lagos, bringing together an inspiring mix of performances, screenings, exhibitions, creative markets, and night events. Over six days, the festival will feature more than 150 shows and experiences celebrating the diversity, resilience, and innovation of African creativity.
This year’s festival theme, ‘Hybrid Identities: Merging Boundaries’, is a celebration of experimentation and collaboration. It invites creators from diverse disciplines to explore what it means to create art in a digital age and how technology can influence identity, storytelling, and expression. The Creative Tech Workshops are at the heart of that conversation, giving artists the chance to explore how Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing, digital design, and other emerging tools can spark new ways of thinking and making (art).

AI and film
The workshop delves into the rapidly evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and filmmaking. Participants will learn how AI is being used in storytelling, editing, and production design, and how these tools can support rather than replace the filmmaker’s creative vision. It’s a chance to see how technology is opening new doors for visual storytelling.
Digital Craft: A 3D Printing Masterclass for prop, set, costume design
THIS practical session is perfect for theatre and film designers who want to experiment with 3D printing and digital modelling. The workshop focuses on how digital fabrication can enhance creativity in stage design, props, and costumes, helping participants bring imagination to life with precision and innovation.
AI and Fashion Workshop
THIS paid immersive class is for designers and fashion professionals interested in how artificial intelligence can inspire creativity in fabric design, illustration, and trend forecasting. Participants will experiment with AI tools that support the design process and learn how technology is reshaping the future of fashion.
Each workshop is a meeting point for artists from different disciplines who share a common goal: to learn, experiment, and connect. The sessions are intentionally designed to make technology less intimidating and more creative, offering participants a space where curiosity leads the way.
“Our goal is to take the mystery out of tech,” said Festival Director of Lagos Fringe, Kenneth Uphopho. “We want artists to see these tools as an extension of their creativity, not a threat to it. The workshops are about learning, experimenting, and reimagining what’s possible. When artists understand what technology can do for them, they can use it to tell stronger stories and reach wider audiences.”
For the Lagos Fringe team, this workshop series is more than a festival programme. It’s part of a bigger commitment to help Nigerian and African artists adapt to the future of work and creativity. This November, the festival returns with an even richer celebration of local talent and taste, featuring the beloved Fringe Market and an exciting new addition, the Eat, Drink & Fringe Experience, both taking place at Freedom Park, Lagos, from November 22–23, 2025.
Since its inception, the Lagos Fringe Market has become one of the city’s most anticipated creative showcases. Over the past seven years, it has supported more than 250 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), giving artisans, designers, and food vendors a platform to grow their businesses and reach wider audiences. From fashion and home décor to art, crafts, and gourmet products, the market has consistently amplified the creative economy by spotlighting homegrown brands that blend heritage with innovation.
This year’s edition promises to be the most dynamic yet. The market will bring together a fresh wave of local entrepreneurs, independent creators, and cultural change-makers who represent the pulse of modern Lagos. Visitors can expect a curated mix of handcrafted goods, sustainable fashion, wellness products, visual art, and streetwear, all created by passionate Nigerian makers.
“The Fringe Market has always been about access and empowerment,” said Festival Director of Lagos Fringe, Kenneth Uphopho. “We’ve seen small vendors grow into thriving brands because they had a space to share their creativity with real audiences. That’s what the Fringe is about: giving people the platform and confidence to shine.”
Adding even more flavour to this year’s festivities is the brand new Eat, Drink & Fringe Experience, a celebration of Lagos’ world-famous food culture. Over two delicious days, the event will bring together chefs, mixologists, and street food innovators to showcase the diversity of Nigeria’s culinary scene from smoky suya and small chops to gourmet fusion dishes and refreshing mocktails.
Food lovers will get to sample the city’s boldest flavours, discover new food brands, and enjoy live music, art, and pop-up performances that blend taste with creativity. It’s more than just a food fair; it’s a full experience designed to celebrate Lagos as Africa’s culinary and cultural capital.
“Eat, Drink & Fringe is our way of expanding what the festival feels like,” said Uphopho. “We wanted to create a space where people can eat, laugh, dance, and connect. Art isn’t only on stage; it’s also in the food, the design, the music, and the people. This new experience captures all of that.”
Visitors to the Fringe Market and Eat, Drink & Fringe can expect an immersive atmosphere where creativity meets community. The market will feature live DJs, open mic sessions, and surprise performances throughout the day, turning Freedom Park into a lively carnivalesque of art, taste, and entertainment.
