THE Senate of Lagos State University (LASU) has ended its industrial action after the Joint Action Committee (JAC) reached an agreement with the Lagos State Government during a meeting with Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat last Thursday.

In a statement signed by Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, the JAC approved the resumption of academic and social activities from Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Following updates from the Vice-Chancellor on the outcome of the meeting, the Senate resolved that students should return to their hostels on LASU campuses in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe starting Wednesday.

It also directed that the 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, which had been suspended, would now begin on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Students were urged to resume promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations.

The strike began after the JAC of Staff Unions declared industrial action on July 31, 2025, prompting the Senate, during a virtual meeting on August 2, to suspend all academic and social activities across the university.
