Lagos Makes New Changes As Registration For 2025 UBE Test Commences

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government of Lagos State has initiated electronic registration for the 2025 Universal Basic Education through Continuous Assessment Scores and Placement Tests.

This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education for its residents.

As outlined in a circular issued by the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Orunsolu Adebayo, the registration period will extend from Monday, January 27, to Friday, April 18, 2025.

The circular also highlighted that the Lagos State Examinations Board has approved Yoruba Language as one of the subjects for evaluating the knowledge and cognitive abilities of pupils participating in the Placement Test via CAS.

Adebayo reassured stakeholders and parents that effective measures are in place to facilitate a smooth and efficient registration process.

He stressed that every child will receive the necessary attention throughout the registration period.

It read, “Only primary six pupils in public and approved private primary schools in Lagos State are eligible to participate in the UBE by CAS and Placement Test.

“Registration is free for public primary schools, while pupils of approved private primary schools are required to pay N5,000 per candidate through the Lagos State Central Billing System.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has refuted allegations made by the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, accusing the police of invading his residence and placing his family under house arrest on the day of his removal.

Obasa had alleged that over 200 policemen, reportedly led by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olawale, stormed his homes in the Agege area and GRA Ikeja, blocking the gates and restricting his family’s movements.

“My children did not sleep in this house on that day because they were locked out, and my wife kept inside — house arrest,” Obasa claimed while addressing a crowd of supporters at the Speaker’s Lodge, 47, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday.

Reacting to the allegations, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olawale, dismissed Obasa’s accusations as baseless.

Speaking in an interview with Punch, Olawale said the claims were unfounded and could be easily verified.
