SIX people were rescued yesterday evening after a two-storey building collapsed on Modupeola Street, Mangoro, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m., though the exact cause of the collapse has yet to be determined.
Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the development in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Emergency responders, led by the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), arrived promptly at the scene and successfully pulled six individuals from the rubble.
“LASEMA and other first responders got to the scene in good time. They rescued a trapped victim and five others from the debris,” Omotoso said.
According to officials, five of the rescued victims were taken to a nearby private hospital for immediate treatment.
The sixth person, who sustained a fracture and multiple bruises, was transported by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Surgical Emergency Unit.
Omotoso confirmed that the 44-year-old patient, a resident of Olabode Street, Alimosho, was in stable condition upon arrival and is receiving further care.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
