The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has revealed that Nigeria’s military cooperation with China is already producing positive results.

Obasa highlighted that the support, which includes military training and local arms production, is helping Nigeria address security challenges.

Speaking at the 76th anniversary celebration of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, the lawmaker said Nigeria has greatly benefited from its bilateral relationship with China.

“China’s assistance in local arms production and military training has already contributed to improving security not only in Nigeria but also across other African nations,” Obasa stated.

He further emphasised China’s role in supporting infrastructure development in Lagos State.

“Lagos has seen remarkable growth through Chinese investments in key infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and rail systems, enhancing our economy and enriching society,” he said.

Obasa also recalled the recent discussions between President Xi Jinping and President Bola Tinubu.

“During their meeting, both leaders held cordial and in-depth exchanges on China-Nigeria relations, as well as regional and international matters of mutual interest.

“They agreed that both countries are at a new historical starting point as significant representatives of major developing nations and emerging economies, and resolved that their strengthened strategic cooperation will drive a new dynamic for China-Africa relations in the new era,” he added.
