Victor Osimhen is one of the most lethal strikers in Europe and one of the biggest clubs in the world is eyeing him…

Spanish Laliga giants Barcelona have identified Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as a potential target for next summer’s transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Catalan giants are searching for reinforcements in the striker’s department, as 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski will likely leave the club when his contract expires at the end of next season.

Also Ferran Torres, even with his haul of five goals and one assist in 11 games, can be erratic in front of goal.

As such, Barcelona have identified Osimhen as a potential buy, per reports from Barca Times. The Super Eagles striker has proven to be one of the most lethal marksmen in Europe, as he has shone at Lille, Napoli, and Galatasaray.

Osimhen is great in the air, solid with his feet, and has a significant physical presence in the final third. He also has the temperament to carry a club like Barcelona.

Can Barcelona afford Victor Osimhen?

While Barcelona are one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world, they have been dealing with financial problems for the past four years, and that has restricted them from splurging in the market.

As such, the Victor Osimhen deal might be a bit tough to pull off. Galatasaray just paid €75 million for him a few months ago for a four-year contract. So Barcelona would have to cough out a higher fee if they want to get Osimhen.

Also, Osimhen is on a monster salary package in Turkey, and he wouldn’t want to take a pay cut. But Barcelona cannot afford to match his pay right now, as that would make him one of the top four highest-paid at the club.

Nonetheless, if the Laliga champions can win the UEFA Champions League, it would put them in a really good finanacial position.

If the transfer works out, Osimhen will become the third Super Eagles player to don a Barcelona shirt, after Samuel Okunowo and Emmanuel Amunike.
