Lamar Odom is speaking out after his recent arrest in Las Vegas, insisting he was not under the influence at the time.
The former NBA star addressed the incident Tuesday, pushing back on claims that drugs or alcohol played a role. “I’m learning from this experience,” Odom told TMZ. “I remain committed to my continued growth. I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life, and taking responsibility is an essential part of that process.”
Odom was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he was driving at a high rate of speed and changing lanes without signaling. Authorities later reported signs they associated with impairment, including bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of marijuana in his vehicle.
According to the news outlet, Odom acknowledged smoking marijuana earlier in the day but denied being impaired while driving.
Despite the conflicting accounts, Odom said he is focused on moving forward. “I am cooperating fully, staying honest, and focused on moving forward with integrity,” he said, thanking supporters who have stood by him.
The incident has reignited attention on Odom’s past struggles. The two-time NBA champion won titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and earned Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2011. He has also been open about battles with addiction, including a near-fatal overdose in 2015.
