The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has declared that Senator Ibrahim Lamido has no political future in the state, stressing that he is not an indigene of Sokoto but of Zamfara.
Speaking to journalists in Sokoto, Achida said while Sokoto people are known for their hospitality and openness, the state’s goodwill must never be abused by outsiders seeking to reap political benefits at the expense of its indigenes.
“Senator Ibrahim Lamido is not from Sokoto State; he is from Zamfara. If he wishes to contest the 2027 elections, let him go back to his home state. He can live here like any law-abiding Nigerian, but he should never think of representing Sokoto people politically again.
The APC chairman was reacting to claims that Lamido is leading a faction of the party in Sokoto, dismissing such reports as baseless.
He accused the senator of fighting the APC from within, describing him as “a political liability who betrayed the very structure that made him.”
Achida was particularly angered by Lamido’s criticism of Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the political leader of the APC in Sokoto.
“How can Lamido insult Senator Wamakko, the man who made it possible for him to become a senator? That was the final red line. His betrayal is unforgivable,” he said.
According to Achida, Lamido’s political decline was already evident during the 2023 elections, where he failed to deliver even his polling unit. “He bit the very hand that fed him. Both the APC and the people have disowned him. His political career in Sokoto is finished,” he stressed.
The APC chairman also dismissed the relevance of Senator Abubakar Umar Gada, who recently boasted of attracting APC members into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He described Gada as politically insignificant, noting that he polled barely 3,500 votes in the 2023 governorship election, “less than what a strong candidate secures in one ward.”
He maintained that the APC in Sokoto remains firmly united under Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and the leadership of Senator Wamakko, adding that reports of factions or coalitions were “mere media exaggerations.”
“Our party is not under any threat from self-serving individuals. The APC in Sokoto is intact, working, and delivering dividends of democracy to the people,” Achida declared.
