The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has kick-started the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s local government elections.

This was according to photos taken at the LASIEC distribution centre located in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, which also serves as a logistics hub for both Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

According to a report by Punch, the centre came alive as ad-hoc staff moved to organise and dispatch materials to the 14 LCDAs under the two councils’ jurisdiction.

Ballot papers, result sheets, and other essential items were sorted and loaded for onward movement to various polling units, with tight security ensuring the integrity of the process. Uniformed officers were stationed around the premises, providing cover for both personnel and electoral materials.

“We are fully prepared and committed to ensuring that every polling unit receives its materials on time,” a senior ad-hoc staff member overseeing the distribution, Mrs. Adeola Williams said via Punch.

“Our goal is to facilitate a seamless electoral process, and the timely distribution of these materials is fundamental to achieving that objective. We have trained our staff thoroughly, and they are ready to ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected through this democratic exercise.”

Officials and stakeholders at the centre described the early morning deployment as a vital step in reinforcing public trust and confidence in the electoral process, especially at the grassroots level.
