Two former Presidents of Nigeria, the late Muhammadu Buhari and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua have been listed among the 100+ prominent citizens from Katsina State.

Their names were published in a 600-page book titled, ‘100+Eminent Nigerians from the Katsina State: Profiles in Nation Building and History, Volume One’.

Unveiled by the Katsina State government on Wednesday, the book was also inaugurated by Ibrahim Kabir-Masari, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on politics.

The Katsina government stated that this initiative is aimed at honouring the indigenes of the state who have contributed to the development of Katsina and Nigeria as a whole.

The late former presidents Yar’Adua and Buhari were both from Katsina State and served the nation between 2007 and May 2010, and 2015 and 2023, respectively.

While Yar’Adua died in service on May 5, 2010, at the age of 58, Buhari passed on in a London Hospital on July 13, 2025, at 82.

Speaking at the unveiling of the book, the Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda assured that the book would serve as a point of reference for the younger generations across the states of the country.

“This is not just a book, but something to hold dearly close to our hearts with a view to studying it, learning from it, and emulating the works and good values of these eminent personalities from the state.

“My hope and prayer is for us to make good use of this book, and also make it available to our younger ones, so that they will learn some lessons from it,” Governor Radda said.

Also speaking, Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, the Secretary to the State Government described the new book as an important document aimed at inspiring and motivating all Nigerians and leaders alike to focus on service to their nation and states.
