Laura Stylez is setting the record straight about the final years of Ebro in the Morning and why fans rarely saw the hosts inside Hot 97’s studio.
After news broke that the long-running radio show had ended, one listener suggested the team had been “mailing it in” by broadcasting virtually.
Stylez quickly pushed back online. “Mailing it in? Lol it was live,” she wrote. “We just didn’t want to go into a studio with roaches and homeless people sleeping in the hallways.”
City records show no official complaints or violations tied to the building. Still, the plot thickens with a transitional housing shelter sitting just a block away from the studio. Hot 97 has not responded to the claims.

Ebro Darden confirmed the show’s cancellation on Friday, posting, “It’s done. More to come.” During an Instagram Live, he suggested his outspoken political views may have played a role. “They need my anti government, progressive energy out the way,” he said.
Stylez later reflected on the show’s ending with gratitude. “We had the best time and the most beautiful listeners,” she shared on Instagram. “I lived so many of my dreams at Hot 97.” She added that fans should not count the trio out, teasing that new plans are already in motion for next year.
