Leak Claims Pokémon Wind & Pokémon Waves Are Gen 10 Games Set In New Region

A prominent Pokémon leaker claims to have new information regarding the franchise’s 10th generation of games, revealing the supposed titles and the real-world inspiration for their new region. Gen 10 has not been officially announced, but information appears to be trickling in early alongside Pokémon Legends: Z-A Pokédex leaks.

Centro LEAKS has long been a prominent figure for Pokémon leaks, and has now posted a tweet claiming the Gen 10 games will be called Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Waves. They vaguely follow up with a note that the game’s central theme will be “Infinity,” though it’s unclear what exactly this could mean for the supposed games’ narratives. Centro also crucially claims that Wind and Waves are being directed by Shigeru Ohmori, who has previously filled the same role for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Sun and Moon, Sword and Shield, and Scarlet and Violet.

A second tweet from Centro LEAKS goes on to claim that Pokémon Wind and Waves‘ new region is based on Southeast Asia, specifically the islands of Indonesia. The information supposedly comes from documents created by Ohmori in 2021, indicating these broad strokes were cemented prior to the release of Scarlet and Violet, Gen 9’s introductory titles.

Pokémon Wind & Waves Supposedly Take Place In Region Based On SE Asia

Indonesia & Potentially Beyond

Following Pokémon tradition, Wind and Waves will see the introduction of a new region based on real-world locations. While a name for Gen 10’s supposed region was not mentioned, it will primarily be based on Indonesia, according to the leak. Centro LEAKS, however, very pointedly mentioned “Indonesia and Southeast Asia.” The region could also see influence from countries like Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea.

This would, of course, likely include new regional Pokémon forms, and have a keen focus on water travel, considering the region’s real-world influence. Based on the prominence of Indonesia in the leak, it would appear to primarily focus on the Malay Archipelago, which includes the island nations mentioned above. The broader catch-all of Southeast Asia includes mainland countries like Vietnam and Thailand, among others, though it’s unclear how much of the region Gen 10 will supposedly borrow from.

Wind & Waves Names Contradict Previously Leaked Gen 10 Info

Greece Is Apparently Not The Regional Inspiration

Centro LEAKS admits that their own information is contradictory. Previous leaks regarding Pokémon Gen 10 indicated that its new region would be based on Greece, incorporating a lot of influence from the nation’s famous ancient civilization. Centro indicates that the change in region remains mysterious to leakers: “We don’t know if the region setting changed during development.”

It should go without saying that leaks deserve a fair bit of skepticism. Centro LEAKS has been incorrect in the past, even if they do share correct information fairly regularly. Even with these leaks, we know very little about Gen 10. It is now expected to be exclusive to the Switch 2, but Gen 10’s combat, structure, starters, Pokémon, etc. all remain up in the air. Leaks will likely continue to trickle in, but we won’t have a clear picture of Pokémon‘s 10th generation – and whether they’re actually called Wind and Waves – until it’s officially unveiled.
