Drake and LeBron James’ once-close friendship may have cooled recently, but the NBA superstar wants fans to know there’s no bad blood.
In a candid sit-down with Complex’s Speedy Mormon, the Los Angeles Lakers forward opened up about where things stand with the rapper.
“Always wish him the best,” James said. “Obviously [we’re in] different places right now, currently. He’s doing his thing, I’m doing mine, but it’s always love for sure.”

LeBron and Drake’s bond dates back to the rapper’s So Far Gone era in 2009, and they’ve shared plenty of moments over the years. In 2023, Drake even brought James and his son Bronny onstage during an L.A. stop on his It’s All A Blur Tour… just weeks after Bronny’s health scare.
Things went left after Drake’s major rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. James showed up to Kendrick’s Pop Out concert last June. Drake later appeared to take aim at LeBron on a pair of tracks, including his leaked “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” where he seemed to call out those who crossed him and even covered up his tattoo tribute to James.
