Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to be in action for Leicester City when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Wednesday, April 2, Footynaija.com reports.

Leicester’s recent form has been nothing short of disastrous, with five consecutive Premier League defeats leaving them in a precarious position. Another loss against City could be dire, further reducing their chances of survival and increasing the pressure on manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ndidi and Leicester City will head into Wednesday’s game with the increasingly realistic possibility of relegation firmly at the back of their minds. The Foxes will be looking to steal a highly unlikely win against Pep Guardiola’s side, who have not been at their dominant best this season and currently sit in 5th place.

A potential boost for the East Midlanders is the absence of Man City’s Erling Haaland, who is set to be sidelined for up to seven weeks after suffering an ankle injury in an FA Cup clash against Bournemouth on Sunday. However, the Foxes will still have to contend with the likes of Omar Marmoush, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and Savinho.

Will Ndidi produce the goods against City?

In what has been a very bleak season for the Foxes, Ndidi has stood out as one of the shining lights. The 28-year-old Nigerian midfielder has been a consistent presence in the heart of midfield, starting all 20 of his Premier League appearances this season and providing four assists.

Against City, the Foxes will depend on  his ability to break up play, shield the defense and contribute in the final third. His defensive work rate and ability to dictate play from deep in midfield will be key in trying to disrupt City’s relentless attacking flow.

Leicester will need Ndidi to be at his absolute best, not just in breaking up City’s play but also in leading by example.  If he can put in a standout performance, he might just provide the Foxes with the foundation they need to mount a rare challenge against the reigning champions.

A win against City could serve as a turning point in Leicester’s battle for survival, restoring confidence and providing a much-needed morale boost for their remaining fixtures. However, if they fall short, the road to safety will become even steeper.
