Former Big Brother Naija housemate Leo DaSilva has criticised Yoruba elders for selling family land to Igbo people, calling their actions greedy.
Naijaonpoint reports that his comments came after social commentator Scott Iguma addressed corruption in the real estate sector.
Iguma said that some Yoruba elders willingly sell land to outsiders rather than using it to benefit their communities.
He pointed out that Igbos did not steal the land but legally purchased it, and he said Yoruba leaders often spend the money on luxury items instead of improving local living conditions.
He suggested that if there is concern over outsiders in Yoruba land, leaders could focus on building seaports and international airports in other states to encourage foreigners to do business elsewhere.
Reacting to this, Leo DaSilva said Yoruba elders’ greed has made them a subject of ridicule.
The reality TV star added that family disputes over inherited property have contributed to the situation, making it easy for others to mock the Yoruba people.
He wrote on Twitter: “lol this narrative of Yoruba elders selling family land to our Igbo people, that’s where I will always blame us Yoruba people.
“Everyone is now using it to make fun of us.
“Your parents that are greedy and fighting their siblings for property they didn’t work for, caused this.”
