Prince ‘Laja Adeoye, a former PDP House of Representatives hopeful has donated N2 million to support the party’s candidates in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area ahead of July 12 Lagos State Local Government elections.
Adeoye disclosed this in a statement issued by by his Special Adviser on General Duties, Mr Yusuf Fadeyi, on Thursday in Lagos .
He said that the donation was made to help the party’s candidates in their campaigns and support their quest for victory.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls the PDP in Lagos State on June 18 officially unveiled its 57 chairmanship and 376 councillorship candidates for the elections.
Adeoye urged other party stakeholders to assist the candidates in their campaigns to emerge victorious at the polls, emphasising the importance of collective effort.
“The party’s candidates need all the assistance they can get at this time. The election is winnable by the Lagos PDP, if all hands can be mobilised across the local government areas in the state.
“I call on other party stakeholders across PDP Lagos to assist candidates as the council elections is very near.
“We cannot leave this task to them alone, and this is the reason I am calling on men and women with means to help our candidates in Lagos.
“Party members also have a greater role to play during the campaign, and election proper. We must dedicate time and effort so that we can emerge victorious at the polls,” Adeoye said.
Adeoye expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, saying the effort of leaders like Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in uniting the party in South West and Nigeria at large offer hope.
He urged all party members to shun any act capable of causing division .
The chieftain said party leaders were working tirelessly to ensure PDP’s resurgence in the South West and beyond. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
