Authorities in Libya have arrested five Nigerian nationals — one male and four females, including a woman with a child — on allegations of involvement in prostitution.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Migrant Rescue Watch, the arrests were made during a police operation in the Salmani area of Benghazi, carried out by the Ras Abidah Police Department.

The raid was in response to public complaints about suspected prostitution activities involving migrants in the area.

The suspects were reportedly found in a house believed to have been used as a brothel by undocumented migrants.

The police apprehended all five individuals at the scene and have since transferred them to the Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) for further legal proceedings.
