French Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse FC have initiated discussions with Super Eagles winger Henry Onyekuru over a possible summer move, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Monaco and Everton man, having played just four matches so far this season—partly due to injury—seeks more playing time away from Al Fayha.

According to sources close to the player, the 27-year-old is on Toulouse’s radar ahead of the next transfer window, with both parties, per Africa Foot,  exploring the conditions for a free transfer.

Onyekuru’s contract with Saudi Pro League side Al Fayha is set to expire at the end of the current season, and the club has shown no intention of offering him a new deal.

The Nigerian international has made a total of 38 appearances for the Saudi outfit thus far, and just four this season, which has sparked his desire to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Onyekuru, who is known for his quick feet, is no stranger to Ligue 1, having previously featured for AS Monaco—although his time in the league was brief, making eight appearances in total for the club.

A return to France could offer the Super Eagles winger a fresh start as he looks to revive his career and stay in contention for international call-ups.

Toulouse sit in 10th place in the league standings with 34 points, which suggests they will likely feature in next season’s campaign. However, they are looking to bolster their squad to compete for the league title come next season.
