Like Other Parties, LP Will Overcome Its Crisis – Senator Umeh

A prominent Labour Party (LP) member, Victor Umeh, has conveyed his belief that the party will navigate its present difficulties.

According to him, the internal crisis is not peculiar to the party.

Naijaonpoint reports that the lawmaker representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly shared this sentiment on Sunday during a thanksgiving service hosted by Senator Kelvin Chukwu of the Enugu East Senatorial District at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Enugu.

The event was organized to launch the lawmaker’s empowerment initiative for his constituents.

He emphasized that every political party experiences unique challenges, asserting that internal conflicts are not uncommon within the Labour Party.

“Every party faces crises; it is not exclusive to the Labour Party. While we acknowledge the difficulties we are encountering, we are diligently working to address all issues within the party,” Umeh remarked.

Regarding the economic hardships affecting the nation, Umeh noted that the National Assembly has been actively supporting the government in tackling these challenges.

He further stated that there has been no request from President Bola Tinubu, which the National Assembly has refused.

When questioned about the Labour Party’s underwhelming performance in the recent local government elections in Abia State, Umeh remarked that such elections are influenced by various factors, suggesting that the upcoming general elections hold greater promise.

During the distribution of empowerment items at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, the event’s chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, characterized the initiative as a genuine embodiment of democratic principles.

“I’m here to promote good governance and I’m a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator Kelvin Chukwu is a member of Labour Party. So what I have come here to do today is to promote good governance,” Nwoye said, challenging the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.

He stressed that it would be the only way to encourage the donor to do more.
