The decision comes amid allegations that Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks, violated jail protocols by using other inmates’ phone accounts and engaging in unauthorized three-way calls. To secure his release, Durk’s legal team proposed a substantial bail package, including $2 million in assets, 24/7 private security, and electronic monitoring. However, the court expressed concerns over his potential flight risk and the seriousness of the charges. The rapper faces federal charges related to an alleged 2022 plot targeting fellow artist Quando Rondo, which resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. Prosecutors allege that Durk orchestrated the scheme as retaliation for the 2020 killing of his close associate, King Von. Durk recently celebrated a small win in court after his lyrics are prohibited from being used as evidence against him in court. Prosecutors have tried to use his lyrics as proof of his alleged crimes, but his attorneys were able to prove that the songs were recorded before the fatal shooting and not after. Durk has pleaded not guilty to all charges and maintains his innocence. His trial is scheduled to begin on October 14, 2025.
