Lil Wayne and LeBron recently linked up again to film a commercial, and Lil Wayne admitted that even though he is a megastar in his own right, he still gets “starstruck” around Bron.
Lil Wayne recently looked back on the night he first met LeBron James at a concert in Ohio when he was in his teens. “I received a call from Slim, Birdman’s older brother, who mentioned a promising player in the area eager to attend my show. He said, ‘Trust me, Wayne, this kid is the next Michael Jordan,’” Wayne recalled.
When Wayne came downstairs, LeBron was waiting in a Suburban with friends, his arm in a cast. “He was just having a blast that night. Both of us remember it vividly… it was truly unforgettable,” he added.
Wayne revisited the moment during an ESPN SportsCenter appearance, sharing that the last time he felt “starstruck” was years later, on set with LeBron for a commercial shoot, likely the Beats Pill launch. LeBron rapped along to “A Milli” between takes. “I found myself asking him about his son and the NBA, those discussions were monumental for me,” Wayne said, calling their off-camera talks even more meaningful than the shoot.
While Wayne may be starstruck, his former artist Drake recently ended his friendship with Bron after he was filmed dancing and singing along to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Drake also recently covered up his LeBron James tribute tattoo.
