Lil Wayne says he no longer wants to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show after Kendrick Lamar headlined the halftime show in Louisiana in February.

“Every time I looked, it was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on. They stole that feeling. I don’t want to do it. It was perfect,” he told Rolling Stone.

While Weezy was never officially offered the spot, he said it was indicated early on that he would be the headliner.

“To perform, it’s a bunch of things they’re going to tell you to do and not do, a–es to kiss and not kiss. If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing s–t with Tom Brady. That was all for that. You ain’t never seen me in them types of venues. I ain’t Drake. I ain’t out there smiling like that everywhere. I’m in the [studio] smokin’ and recording.”

After the NFL, Apple Music initially announced Kendrick Lamar as the headliner, Wayne cried in a video to his fans, expressing his hurt. The rapper is now focusing on the release of his upcoming album, Tha Carter VI, dropping June 6, 2025.
