Top dignitaries of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were present on Tuesday when the party launched in Nigeria’s South-South region.
Those at the event include former Edo State Governor Chief John Odigie Oyegun, former Edo State Governor Senator Osarieme Osunbor; and Ken Imansuangbon.
Others were Senator Roland Owie, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, the National Vice Chairman of the party, Usani Uguru Usani, Festus Igbinoba (the ADC National Chief Whip), Mabel Oboh (Assistant Publicity Secretary for the South-South Zone), Dr Isaiah Osifoh, Mike Ohima, Bright Honda (South-South youth leader, ADC), and several others.
Naijaonpoint gathered that the opposition party launched in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Speaking at the unveiling, the ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, called for unity, resilience, and renewed dedication among party members.
He emphasised that the event signifies “a new chapter for ADC in Edo State—one built on integrity, service, and collective progress.”
Senator Mark, represented by the National Chief Whip, Festus Igbinoba, declared that ADC is ready to assume the mantle of leadership come 2027, urging all members to work towards this goal.
On his part, Oyegun lamented that the country’s situation has worsened, progressing from hunger to starvation.
He noted that only the ADC can rescue Nigeria from its current predicament.
According to Osunbor, the party’s legal adviser, President Bola Tinubu should emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan, who famously stated that his election was not worth the blood of any Nigerian, and conceded defeat to the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Osunbor criticised the current administration for failing to provide security and instead increasing taxes on citizens.
He added that those now joining the ADC foresaw the inevitable failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party and called on Nigerians to unite with the ADC to oust the APC in 2027.
Ken Imansuangbon argued that the current administration must purge itself of corruption for things to improve, emphasising that the ADC has the capacity to correct prevailing wrongs in the country.
