List Of Personnels Who Will Spoke At Special FEC Meeting In Honour Of Buhari

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Thursday held its first special session in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82.

The solemn gathering, which took place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, brought together top political officeholders across all arms of government, as well as members of the late President’s family.

The meeting, initially slated for 5:00 p.m., commenced at 5:27 p.m. with the arrival of President Bola Tinubu, who presided over the special tribute session.

Buhari passed away in a London hospital after a prolonged illness. His remains were flown back to Nigeria and buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, on July 15, in accordance with Islamic rites. He was interred with full military honours.

According to an official programme seen by Punch, the tribute session featured a lineup of speakers from the three arms of government, ministerial representatives, and the deceased’s family.

Those scheduled to pay tribute included:

Senate President Godswill Akpabio

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun

Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

They were followed by key ministers, including:

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake

Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim

Minister of Works, David Umahi

The final tribute was reserved for the family, delivered by Buhari’s son, Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari.
